Most of you are probably aware that the South Central Farm is a very special place, providing fresh food and community for more than 350 low income families in south central Los Angeles. People of all ages gather there and share diverse traditions, seeds, music. They are in grave danger of losing their land. To bulldoze these 14 verdant acres and put in a cement warehouse is insane.

Please lend your support in this crucial week.
Come down to the farm or go to City Hall (especially on Friday morning), write a letter, make a donation (paypal link at www.southcentralfarmers.com).

Thanks,
Jennifer

Schedule of Actions for the week of 3/7/06-3/11/06

A revised eviction notice was posted on the gates of the South Central Farm by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department March 2, 2006. According to the notice the 14 acre farm (the largest urban farm in the nation) needs to be vacated by TODAY, Tuesday March 7, 2006.

Until the end of that day, it will still be legal for the farmers to remain on the land. The farmers are undertaking the necessary process to halt this eviction through legal appeals. To our knowledge, we can only be guaranteed to stall the eviction for days. This week will be critical in the history and fate of the farm. The farmers have been keeping up this fight for three years, but its victory is in the hands of the people.
