WORK PARTY?
i'm so glad you shared this keith.
work parties are integral to the process i feel.
they make it possible to accomplish permaculture designs and demonstrate the principle that all the resources we need are at hand through our contact. you are all so talented and have so many skills to share with each other in the many collaborations that are possible when a diverse group of people gather together. one gathering effects change and leads to a dozen more projects.
if there is anyone in the area interested in doing something to their property, i'd like to contract a work party collaboration.
i have a design and the materials and tools ready for a project so we're ready to go! can i count you in keith? kristin and justin? geofrey? who else has a project in the area and is interested in accomplishing it this way in the next few weeks.

Work party?
Tue, May 17, 2005 - 10:22 AM> can i count you in .. ? >
When?, Where? :D
This is something I'd love to do on a regular basis.
My requirements are basically what I described in my previous post:
1. That I have some idea of what i'm getting into. That is, that the host provides a picture of yard (or whatever area) as-currently-is, and a description of what she/he wants to accomplish. That way I know that I'm contributing to a permaculture project, not just contributing to re-doing someone's lawn. ;)
2. When?, where? (at least the city - more specifics could be provided privately via e-mail or phone for those who've indicated they want to participate), and what to bring? (participants should bring their own shovels, etc.).
Also, of course, that I have that day free. :)
I think that for a basic yard-tear-up, if things go well, it'd be possible to take up a lawn and maybe do a soil amendment of horse manure or compost (provided someone has a truck).
Classes / Workshops are great, but then what?
"Work parties" seem like a natural progression.

sorry for the delay in response. i just checked back here and lo an behold. let's do it. i have a couple permaculture design projects planned and underway. a couple cob projects and some vegetable spiral and herb gardens. also a sidewalk cob kiosk. let's work it out for a day that is good for you.
we also could use more than the two of us to really get the work party thing happenin.
any other people want to pool labour and do a project in their yards? -

I'm up for this. Just pick a date, publicize it, and people will come.
Community power combined with tangible earthy goals is very appealing.

I'll be out of town for about a month after that. Maybe we can do my yard in September?
Is there a date for Heather's yard, she's right in my neighborhood?
