I am in the process of founding a foundation that will serve as a research and education facility for sustainability. Through the development, implementation, education, and community involvement in in this field. I wish to establish a basis of education as well as programs for inner city youth to get involved with international philanthropic ventures by partnering with other foundations and working together to implement these programs. My goal is to use social entrepreneurship in conjunction with microfinance to spread knowledge to empower the lower class within the international community. I have been working on developing the basis for this foundation and have started contacting private grant providers. I am but one individual and my efforts are futile so long as I remain a single party. I am looking for individuals who have experience and knowledge with permacultural and philanthropic practices. I am only interested in people that are dedicated to making a difference and are willing to go the extra mile to fulfill the tasks at hand.

Re: Philanthropy and Permaculture!
Tue, March 14, 2006 - 10:33 AMI have interests in this area myself. I am trying to start a regional center for gaia university, which will begin their first classes in the fall of 2006. There is also interest from the La Eco Village to start this center. A Permaculture foudation is also a great idea that I would like to pursue. I belive there is one associated with the gaia u, but the more the merrier. I am working with inner city youth now on projects such as Domevillage downtown and the south central farmers, who are having a youth art party today to make banners to save the farm at 41st and alameda. Getting any monied parties involved in the types of organizations would be of great help right now as greedy capitalists make land grabs on the weakest land holders and put pressure on them to split so they can build werehouses (south central farm) and luxury condos (linclon Place apts) in venice. Actually, the developer seeking eviction from the south central farmers also lives in brentwood, maybe you are neighbors. While international aid is important, if we do not solve local problems first, we could be a turtle chasing a carrot.
