An esteemed Landscape architect in Venice has challenged me to adopt a triangle of vacant land in a prominent site in venice. It is the patch of grass across from the binoculars @ 340 Main Street. The program is to create a place for people to sit, have lunch, and play backgammon. Steps and pathways as well as a sitting wall, and tomato garden would have to be created. This is desired by neighbors.

I think this would be a great demonstration for the Los Angeles Permaculture Guild and City Repair. Who else is interested? There are politics involved of course and we want it to last so... please go through me with your queries as I will be presenting a design to The Venice Arts Committee and Neighborhood Council.

I'll try to have something to show people at the Earth Day on 3rd street prom and we can decide if this is an LAPG thing or not. Waddya think?

lets give the community what they love.....count me in!
sounds like a lapg/cityrepair/venicecommunity cross polinated project all the way. the la times will certainly want to write something about a new public space, and infuse some additional sustainable thoughts into the city as a whole

so... is there a work meeting this friday on the site??
all the supporters and residents joining together with shovels and moving forward?

i have a bunch of urbanite in hollywood that can be broken up and used as rocks for your gabeon cages.
so if anyone has a truck and any surplus labour to do the moving of rocks the resource is here..

however you may find it easier to get a local concrete driveway contractor to drop some off for you.
