Here is Delta's request on how we handle the silent auction.

I'm with scott on not announcing the winners. I think that was what got the cops out at least one of the times last year. Amplified voices are way more invasive than music to the neighbors. Usually with a silent auction the people who bid check to see if they have one after the auction ends. At a set time, say it ends at midnight, you circle the name of whoever is the highest bidder. Then they come back and check to see. If they win, they bring the sheet to the "check out" and collect their prize. that's the low-tech way of doing it, and it seems to work OK. You might want to collect up the prizes (if its actual stuff, and not services or something) at the end ofthe auction so people don't just take their thing and go home. Not that any of our friends would do that, but there are lots of people at the party that we don't know so well.
